Tony to lead South Africa at U-19 World Cup

Tony de Zorzi has been named captain of the South Africa team that will look to defend its crown at the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh in January-February 2016.

The announcement was made during the gala dinner organised by Cricket South Africa in Port Elizabeth. "Well done to all the players selected into the U-19 World Cup squad. This is a formative start to what can turn out to be a memorable tournament as defending champions and ultimately a career as a professional cricketer." Haroon Lorgat, CSA's chief executive, said.

Rishi Dhawan confident of justifying all-rounder tag

Rishi Dhawan sees himself as a genuine all-rounder.

For a cricketer, who is currently the second-highest wicket-taker for his state, it's hard to believe Rishi Dhawan started as a top order batsman. In fact, Dhawan has a triple century in the Cooch Behar Trophy, and is only behind Vikramjeet Malik in all time wickettakers for Himachal Pradesh. He has been the top wicket-taker for HP in the Ranji Trophy over the last four seasons and is now very close to achieve his ultimate dream - representing the country.
The 25-year-old's consistent all-round performances over the years have now been rewarded with a berth in the Indian One-day squad for the tour of Down Under next month. It was only last year that he got the chance in the India 'A' team for the Quadrangular Series in Australia and Dhawan proved his credentials when he won the final with an unbeaten 56 (55b, 4x4) and matchwinning stand of 93 for the seventh wicket with Axar Patel in a pressure situation.

Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka skipper, said that his side made a 'real mockery' while batting in the second innings which led to them losing the second Test against new Zealand in Hamilton. At a point, the visitors led by 127 runs with all 10 wickets in hand. However, from thereon, they could add only 62 runs to the total.
"We just had to bat well and dig deep, but we made a real mockery out of our second innings batting and we just couldn't give enough runs for the bowlers to get them out. It is actually very disappointing the way the game unfolded towards the end. We had our chance, especially after getting them all out for 240-odd in the first innings. We had a healthy lead," Mathews said at the post-match conference on Monday (December 21).
